Long distance wishes...

I got three wish pages in the mail today! Leanne sent this beautiful quilt inspired page all the way from South Australia. I don't think you can tell in the photo, but the sunflower embellishment on the bottom has a ladybug on it. Leanne, I love your design...thank you very much!


This next page comes from Marleen, in Alaska, the mother of two daughters from China (she sent me a couple of photos of her daughters and they are just beautiful girls!). I love her wish of self esteem, especially since this is something I often struggle with...I hope Lauren will have tons of it. Marleen, thank you so much for this special page!

I've been a little slow on posting the wishes I've received, so I have to play catch up. I have several more than what I'm posting today, that I will post later on.

The wish below is from Robin of Buckeyes and Eggrolls. I love the poem she chose for this page...it's just perfect for the situation. Robin says she not a crafty person, but I think this page is so pretty with the heart doiley and tag with Lauren initials. Thank you so much, Robin!! On another note, I'm one step closer to sending out your quilt square...I actually bought the fabric this past weekend. Shouldn't be long now. ;)


This next page is from Wanda, a fellow Lady Bug Hunter Scrapbook Club member and, more importantly, a Precious Panda sister. Wanda has such a knack for scrapbooking and she puts together such great pages for our club exchanges each month. I love the colors and ribbon accents she used on this page. I also love the little "Fastenator" staple she used on the ribbon that says "sweet". That's a scrapbooking toy I don't have yet, but I'm sure I'll be picking it up at Michaels or Joannes with a coupon soon enough. Wanda, thank you so much for this wish and the beautiful saying.

Good Wishes #26 & #27...

Check out this beautiful wish from Elise of Liptacks and Ladybugs. The colors, cranberry and green, are my favorites and I love the pretty background paper with the bamboo, bird, and flowers! It's such a nice touch how the flower embellishments match the background paper and I love the little Chinese coin...so cute! Elise, thank you so much for this lovely wish!


The adorable two page spread below is from my friend Amy and her daughter Emily. I have always loved classic Pooh bear and quotes from A.A. Milne. The classic Pooh embellishments are so totally cute and I love their wish that Lauren discover the joy of reading. Amy and Emily were part of the group that threw me a book shower for Lauren this past December, so their wish is very fitting. Thank you guys, I love the layout...it will be a perfect addition to my wishes album!

Good Wish #25

Wish #25 brings me 1/4 of the way to my ultimate goal of 100 Good Wishes! This wish is from Stephe, Giorgia's momma, who shares the same DTC and LID dates as us. She's also with our agency, A Helping Hand, and will be in our China travel group!

Birthday Party Ideas For Toddlers

It's time to celebrate your little ones birthday party. It is obvious that most of the guests will be kids.

Choose A Theme:

Choose a fun theme for the birthday party and make all the decorations and arrangements as per the theme. Here are few themes you can choose from:

• Disney theme: You can opt from your kid's favorite Disney character like Winnie the Pooh, Donald Duck, Pokemon etc. Decorate the house or venue with posers of these cartoons. Place their cutouts; you can use the cutouts of trees to make a forest. Have a couple of parents dressed up as their favorite cartoons or maybe clowns, kids will have fun watching their favorite cartoon characters hopping and jumping live around them.
• Doll house theme: If your kid is a girl then the most natural choice will be doll house theme or Barbie. Decorate the venue like a doll house or you can also keep small doll houses in the corner where the little ones can just crawl in.
• Rainbow theme: Kids love color so you can put colorful rainbows and cloud shaped stickers on walls. Give them some colors and let them enjoy.

Games:

Fill a corner of the house with lot of toys so that the toddlers can play alongside each other. Make sure that there's no harmful toy there. Keep dolls, teddy bears, balls or building blocks. You can also let all the kids get their own toys and then share them with each other. Play a CD of nursery rhymes and make all the kids form a circle and dance.

Magic Show:

Get a local magician to perform some magic. The kids will jump with joy when they see a rabbit coming out of the hat or a stick turning into flower.

Puppet Show:

It is always amusing for the kids to see a puppet show. You can base the puppet show on some social theme to make the kids understand things better and in a fun way. Let them enjoy and also take back home a good lesson.

Food:

Keep the food as simple as possible. Something that the kids will happily enjoy eating and won't make a mess will be a perfect choice. Keep sandwiches, cakes, candies, cookies etc.

Don't stretch the party for very long or else the toddlers will start getting sleepy and cranky. Make good use of these ideas and throw a fun filled birthday party for your toddler.

Wishes and dreams, we’ve all had them. They can be big, “I dream of becoming the president,” or small, “I wish I didn’t have to go to work today.” No matter how simple or complex they are, it is important to scrapbook these memories. Think of how nice it will be for future generations to read about your wishes or dreams.
Here are some ideas to help you document these important thoughts and interests in your scrapbooks:

• Document the wishes you have for your children’s future. “My wish for you” would be a great title!
• Is there any dream you’d like to fulfill before your next birthday? Create a page now! You’ll always have something to look back at and see if you’ve fulfilled your dream.
• Most of us have small wishes everyday. Do a layout about what you wished for today.
• Would you rather be in a different occupation? Scrapbook your dream job and why you think it would be great.
• What do your kids want to be when they grow up? What did you want to be? Include these dreams in a layout. It will be interesting to look back and see what’s changed.
• Do you ever wish that you could play an instrument or sport? Do a layout about all the things you wish you knew how to do.
• Many of us have skills that we dream of improving. Use these dreams to create a layout. As you improve these skills you’ll be able to look back at your layout and see how far you’ve come.
• We’ve all done things in the past that we wish we wouldn’t have done. Create a layout and journal about these things. Include what you wish you would have done instead.
• Ever play the lottery? What would you buy? Your dream car or your dream home? Make a page about it. Take photos of your dream home, car, etc and also include your old lottery tickets.
• Ever have the same dream over and over again? Scrapbook what happens in this reoccurring dream and what you think it means.
• How about a mini book filled with dreams and wishes! You could make a mini tag book, accordion book, etc. Carry it with you as a constant reminder!
